A note from Anita: My childhood was filled to the brim with all sorts of animals...dogs, cats, chickens, horses, cows, pigs and all sorts of fish and even reptiles. Once I graduated high school and moved out on my own, I adopted two wonderful cats who I learned to bathe on a regular basis. They were rescue cats who had lived a rough life and were very greasy and dirty, and WHITE! People thought I was crazy to bathe my cats, but they loved being snow white and mat free, and I loved helping them be clean and happy! As an adult I worked regular jobs until 15 years ago when I got a new horse with bad feet. I decided to go through a top-notch natural hoof care program and learned to trim their feet and became a natural hoof care practitioner, traveling all over Virginia to help horses and their owners. When I broke my ankle a few years ago, I was given an opportunity to learn to groom dogs in a friends shop. I found that I loved grooming dogs, and especially loved doing the cats that came in, so a year ago I decided to join the NCGI’s certification program and am working on becoming a Certified Feline Master Groomer.

Fun facts about Me:  I’ve also done a few training classes with my dogs, learning obedience and dog handling and enjoy learning more ways to handle dogs (and cats) using less stressful methods and making their grooming experience as positive as possible. I LOVE grooming and LOVE pets and can’t wait to see your fur babies in the shop at Steph’s!
